Beirut born and Dubai-based, Nadine Kanso’s series of photographs “Makan fi al Zakerah”(Memory of a Place) capture her native city and the longings for her homeland. After living in Montreal and Prague before moving to Dubai in 2000, Kanso’s work is inspired by the streets of a decade past, her morning coffee and mankousheh.
“Beirut is a reflection of other cities in the Arab world today,” she explains. “Each of the buildings tells a story from the past which is also very poignant in the present time.”
