We’re back. On my birthday too. Apologies for the delay, we’ve been tweaking that Beta and there will be much more to reveal soon. Trust us. It’s worth it. And back to today and I’m hugely happy to have our dear friend Alice Waese grace us with a birthday feature, this is her present to all o’ ya’ll.
Alice Waese is a hugely talented artist, jeweller, shoe and fashion designer originally from Toronto, who moved to New York and then London, before relocating back to New York where she currently resides. Our mates at Dazed wrote this feature with her where you can read all about her work and inspiration. Check it out here.
For On Plate, Still Hungry Alice has created an awesome series of drawings that are part documentation of a week’s worth of food, part food tour, all realist / surrealist brilliance. During this week of food, she also meets Tom Waits too. Dope. I’ll stop talking / typing now and pass it over to Alice, where she runs down the captions to accompany the series above. Enjoy!
Fort Green rooftop BBQ tacos. Rare BBQ steak, home pickled onions, purple cabbage coriander salad, guacamole, home pickled radish, pico di gallo. Cholula. Amazing.
Freemans NYC. Gazpacho at Freemans. Cold, smooth tomato gazpacho, tastes like summer and cucumbers. Totally vegan. Saw Tom Waits waiting for the bathroom asked him if he was in line. He growled, “We’re all in this together.”
Williamsburg rooftop. Pacifico and salami!
Barrio Chino NYC. Ancho chile-rubbed tilapia on soft corn tortilla, topped with pickled onions and cilantro. Best guacamole. Best top shelf grapefruit margarita.
Can Of Tuna
At home. Good tinned tuna in olive oil. Eaten on fresh greens with chopped celery. My comfort.
